Acupuncture, Stress & Your Brain

by | Jul 22, 2015

New research is confirming that acupuncture exerts a powerful influence on the brain. These findings help to explain why acupuncture can be so helpful for so many issues.

A new study from the Georgetown University Medical Center published in the journal Endocrinology has shown that acupuncture has a balancing influence on the Hypothamalic-Pituitary-Adrenal axis (HPA). This is the same brain to gland connection that’s responsible for creating all stress-induced symptoms and illness.

The success of this preliminary study that was conducted on rats is leading to a follow-up study on humans.

The significance of this study is that acupuncture is being shown as an effective, drug free approach to balancing brain activity and in turn restoring normal function to the body. What’s also important about this study is that the benefits confered by acupuncture are explained by a well known neurological mechanism.

More and more, acupuncture is being validated by credible research.
